The SSI Independent Diving Instructor course will get you qualified to teach independent diving to all your divers. Let your divers enjoy the benefits of independent diving and be able to offer the course as a stand-alone or combined with other courses such as dive guide and photography.

The SSI Independent Diving Instructor course includes equipment workshop and setup, academic presentations, teaching independent confined and open water dives.

Active status SSI Independent Diving Instructors may teach, supervise and issue certifications for the following program:

SSI Independent Diving

The course is taught by SSI / XR Technical Extended Range Instructor Trainer Ivan Karadzic on Koh Tao, Thailand. Ivan has been a sidemount diver since 2010 and is rarely seen in other configurations. 

During the course we will focus on real-life diving, you will get introduced to common learner problems and their solutions, how to properly fit your students in their equipment, equipment maintenance and problem-solving. Your diving skills are expected to be perfect as this is not a diving course.

Teaching Independent Diving in Open Water

Included / Excluded

Sidemount equipment rental(if already certified sidemount instructor), stage tank, redundant regulator system and dives

Personal diving equipment is not included but can be rented for 500 THB for the duration of the course.

A dive computer is not included but can be rented for 500 THB for the duration of the course.

SSI Professional Fees are not included, they are paid directly to SSI
